On the 18th, MediBloc, which operates the blockchain medical care platform’MediPath’, announced that it will launch a vaccine pass service using distributed identification (DID) (blockchain-based) technology in April.
Recently, as the vaccination and vaccination rates according to the vaccination sequence increase, the need for proof of vaccination history is also increasing.
Vaccine Pass is a service that allows you to check and manage the history of vaccinations registered with the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and linked medical institutions using DID technology. DID technology proves the authenticity of an individual’s vaccination history. The details of the vaccination certificate signed with the DID given to the information providing institution, including the linked medical institution, are stored on the patient’s mobile.
Since the patient can only share it externally if he or she wants, it can be used with confidence without worrying about unauthorized use of data. Afterwards, other organizations or individuals who have shared the vaccination details can use DID to determine whether the details are forged or altered.
The DID, which is essential for MediBloc’s vaccine pass, is officially registered with W3C, an international organization, and can be found directly on the W3C website. MediBloc explained that W3C official registration was in accordance with international standards, and that it is compatible with other DIDs.
Co-CEO Go Woo-gyun of MediBloc pointed out that “the existing paper certificates have a high risk of forgery and alteration and can only cover face-to-face situations, which makes it inconvenient.” At the same time, it will be highly effective because it can be used conveniently and safely even in non-face-to-face situations.”
MediBloc is expected to secure completeness through pre-tests for the medical staff of the corona19 confirmed patients treatment hospitals, senior general hospitals, and medical personnel at general hospital level medical institutions. Since then, it has been announced that it will be officially released by MediPass as early as in April.
Medipass, which provides a vaccine pass, can be downloaded through the Apple App Store or Google Android Market.
